I watch TV because I can keep with up with current events through news programs. 

It’s also possible to keep up with trends through dramas and comedy shows. 

Let me explain further. In Korea, I think fashion trends change quite often compared to other 

parts of the world. Perhaps this is because people want to dress like the stars they see 

on TV, but I think it’s mainly because Koreans are fairly good about keeping up 

with world eventsand trends. What I mean is, through TV, I’m able to see what others think 

and how they feel about the current times.

Keep up with ~에 뒤떨어지지 않다, ~과 보조를 맞추다 current 지금의, 현재의 

trend 경향, 추세, fairly 아주, 상당히

저는 뉴스 프로그램을 통해 요즘 일어나는 사건들에 대해 알 수 있기 때문에TV를 봅니다. 

드라마나 코미디 쇼를 통해 최신 유행을 알게 되는 것도 가능하죠. 더 설명해 볼게요. 

저는 한국에서는 패션 유행이 다른 나라에 비해서 정말 자주 바뀐다고 생각합니다. 아마 이것은 

사람들이 TV에 나오는 스타들처럼 옷을 입고 싶어 하기 때문일 수도 있지만, 주된 이유는 

한국인들이 세상에서 일어나는 사건들과 경향을 상당히 잘 알고 있기 때문이라고 생각합니다. 

그러니까 제 말은 TV를 통해서 요즘 세상에 대해서 다른 사람들이 어떻게 생각하고 느끼는지 

알 수 있다는 것입니다.
