Anonymity certainly has disadvantages for some people, but it also has some merits. 

With anonymity, we can express our opinions freely, though the defamation of others is, 

and should be, a violation of free speech. We can say certain things through anonymous 

online communication that we wouldn’t say to their faces. In other words, if the real-name 

system makes people afraid to say things they really want to, it is actually restricting 

our right to speak.
