1. He looks as young as you (look).

 

2. He is not so young as you (are).

 

3. She is less beautiful than her sister (is).

 

4. This box is twice as large as the box (is).

 

 

 

(1) as ~ as (동등비교)

 

&qout;&qout; A와 B는 같은 정도로....&qout;&qout; 의 뜻을 나타낼 때 as~as가 쓰인다.

 

as와 as사이에는 형용사나 부사의 원급이 들어간다.

 

1. The child is as old as I. = The child is of my age.

 

2. He can swim as fast as she. (can)

 

 

 

(2) not so (=as)~ as

 

&qout;&qout;as~as&qout;&qout;의 부정의 형식이다. &qout;&qout;A는 B만큼~ 하지 않다&qout;&qout;

 

1. He was not so kind as I thought.

 

2. The child is not as old as she. = The child isn&qout;&qout;t of her age.

 

 

 

(3) 열등비교 (less + 원급 + than...)  (...만큼 못하다)

 

1. You are less young than he. = He is younger than you.

 

2. This is the least interesting of my books.

 

 

 

(4) 배수비교 (~ times as ~ as)

 

&qout;&qout; A는 B의 몇 배이다&qout;&qout; 라고 말할 때는 &qout;&qout;as~as&qout;&qout; 형식의 앞에 half(1/2배), twice, three times, four times.... 따위를 붙여 나타낸다.

 

1. This is half as large as that.

 

2. This is twice and a half as long as that.

 

 

 

< 비교 > This book is twice as large as yours.

 

= This book is twice the sizes of yours.
