Today’s discussion will be on Internet file-sharing. There are many file-sharing Web sites in Korea. 

There, visitors can upload or download digital Intellectual Property(IP) such as movies and music at very low cost or for free. ?

In fact, the use of such sites seems almost universal in Korea. 

Many Korean and foreign entertainment and software companies have protested 

such activity as ‘piracy’, and have tried to bring political and legal pressure 

on netizens to stop downloading, and on file-sharing sites to close. 

Despite the pressure, however, file-sharing sites remain ubiquitous in Korea. 

Some say that file-sharing sites should be continue. 

They insist that pressure on file-sharing sites is another attempt by big 

companies to seize commoners’ money by making them pay royalties. 

Other people say that we must abide by IP laws-specifically those relating to products like movies or music-if we ever want to be recognized as an advanced country.
